Halloween is thought to have been heavily influenced by the Christian holy days of All Saints' Day falling on November 1 & 2, Those days were a time for honoring the saints and praying for the recently departed.
Over the years it has evolved (or changed) into a time where we dress up & celebrate with our neighborhoods & communities.
The American tradition of carving pumpkins is recorded as early as 1837. It was originally associated with harvest time in general, not becoming specifically associated with Halloween until the mid-to-late 19th century.
What are you going to dress up as for Halloween? (And, besides going Trick-Or-Treating) What is your favorite family tradition?
