I went in with no expectation other than free play. I wanted to enjoy our collaboration & watch our children's dynamics unfold.
The only thing I did was divide our class in 3 groups so we could easily get the supplies out of the shed & have them start building and playing. Within minutes they were like ants. It was so exciting to see the children actively working together & enjoying the limitless possibilities.
When the first eruption of "unfairness" broke out because one group had more supplies, I did find myself wanting to control their play by having them rotate stations. They quickly vetoed that idea & were able to ask permission to share supplies & move around to other groups to engage in other structures & new forms of play.
What was your favorite part of imagination playground? You can also brainstorm fun ideas or possible contests for when we do it again.
