Americans & Canadians both celebrate Thanksgiving prompted by their first good harvest & a new religious freedom from Europe. Canada celebrates their Thanksgiving now on the 2nd Monday of October because of the colder weather & earlier harvest time. We Americans always celebrate our Thanksgiving on the 4th Thursday of November.
While doing this post I learned that Germany, Japan, Liberia (the West African country,) The Netherlands and Norfolk Island all celebrate Thanksgiving around the time we do because or our influences or our rule over them.
According to what traditionally is known as "The First Thanksgiving," the 1621 feast between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag at Plymouth Colony contained turkey, waterfowl, venison, fish, lobster, clams, berries, fruit, pumpkin, and squash.
